Final Art and Print Version

Posted On By admin

Yesterday, I received the final version of the artwork from Jim and boy does it look wonderful.   With it I was able to finalize the print version of the book as well on Amazon, and thus began the problems. 🙂

I admit it, I’m new to publishing and certainly not yet an expert on the Amazon kdp platform.   So, I’m detailing what happened in hopes it may help some other aspiring author.

The KDP platform is Amazon’s system for publishing books.   It’s go all kinds of great author tools.  Kindle Creator runs on your desktop and converts things like Word documents into a kindle ready e-book.  On the site they have a cover creator that runs in a browser that lets you use your own artwork or something from them.   The pricing section lets you see exactly how much margin you will make on your books in various languages and markets.  Overall, a great tool.

However, It seems that once you approve everything on your print version it goes through an approval process that takes MUCH longer than the e-book version.  So, I went through the process, submitted for approval, and waited till the next day.  Surprise to me, the book was immediately on sale and available for purchase.   Additionally, I realized I hadn’t put into the print version the ISBN number I had purchased for it.  After some desperate digging around the interface I found it was very difficult to be able to tell the site not to sell the book till my original release date.

Frustrated and with way too much going on with the day job to deal with this, I resubmitted the PDF of the book they use as a master.  This, of course, also needs to go through an approval process.   I then moved up the release date of the e-book version to as soon as possibe, which turned out to be 10/1.

The paperback version is now on sale at https://www.amazon.com/dp/0692198679

The Kindle version is available at: https://smile.amazon.com/Witch-Winter-ZaaZ-Eli-Selig-ebook/dp/B07HDLVWPH/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1538020619&sr=1-1&keywords=witch+in+winter
